Pep up your curves

Pep Up Your Curves

The Peplum skirt or dress is a perfect way to play up your curves dolls. A fitted peplum with emphasis on the cinched waist doesn’t hide curves but instead accentuates them nicely. Peplum skirts come in different forms with the ruffle on the side or around the waist.

I prefer the ruffle on the sides. I recently attended an all white day party which was hosted on a boat and decided to wear my white and black peplum dress. I guess great faschinistas think alike because my cousin showed up in a white peplum skirt with side ruffle as well.

Ladies before the summer is over add the peplum skirt or dress to your wardrobe!

How to prevent makeup from rubbing off

Hi Dolls,

One of my loyal readers wrote:
"Is there anything to use, so that your makeup doesn't rub off on clothes or when I'm constantly blotting my face with tissue because of sweat...Please help,I can't go without makeup, because of scars on my face from medical problems."

Ladies don't you hate when you hug someone and leave them with more than just the memory of your embrace; but you leave them with stains from your makeup !!! (so embarrassing). This was a major problem that I encounter when I first started wearing makeup. While there is no way to completely stop makeup from rubbing off during the day there are some ways to help limit it.

One way is to use a primer before applying your foundation. If you are like me and you have oily skin and have to blot through out the day then try a primer with oil control such as Black Radiance Complexion Perfection - Shine Control Primer it retails for about $5.99 at Walgreen's along with that try a setting powder and a makeup mist spray. My favorite spray is Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray available at Sephora.

You also want to change the way you hug because there is no product that will completely eliminate rub off. I've manage to keep my makeup of others by using these products and tips. I hope this helps you dolls as well.

Casual Chic

Hello Dolls.

I recently went out with my sister for a night on the town and I had the hardest time deciding on what to wear. The place where we went was neither casual nor formal so we didn't want to be over dressed or under dressed Decisions Decisions Decisions. I decided that I would wear something casual and dress it up with a pair of my favorite heels. I settled on the black and white fitted calve length skirt that I got from ASOS. I love this skirt because it hugs me in all the right places and depending on what shoes I wear I can dress it up or down. The skirt comes in 2 colors black and white and green and black.

I rocked mine with my fuchsia Giuseppe inspired bow heels that I told you dolls about in a previous post. My sister opted for a long form fitted red and tan sundress, which could also be dressed up or down.

Towards the end of the night she dressed it down and made it more casual by adding a red Phillies fitted cap. We have to rep our city and our team "GO PHILLIES"

Summer Makeup Tips

Hey Dolls,

Summer is here and it is Hot! Hot! Hot!

The last thing I want to do in this summer heat is wear makeup. I like to let my skin breath I never wear makeup everyday no matter the season. I reserve makeup for when I'm going out on the town or a date with the boo. However, there are those days where I feel I need a little extra something, so here are some tips for lighter coverage that can be worn in the heat and won't feel too heavy.

1) I like to mix my favorite liquid foundation with my moisturizer and create a tinted moisturizer: this way you know you're getting your correct shade.  I mixed 2 parts moisturizer to 1 part foundation. I use my tinted moisturizer and then put my favorite powder over top to set it and I'm good to go. I call this my 5 minute face.

2) Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam is a great light weight coverage and the added bonus is that it has SPF 15 a little protection from the sun is always great.  This product is actually lighter than a tinted moisturizer but gives a little more coverage. if you just want to even out your skin tone or just don't want to go bare faced then this may be the product for you. And for $10 you can't beat that price. However, I wouldn't recommend using this if you are trying to be Dolled up and glamed.

Try these tips and products dolls and leave me a comment let me know how you like them. I'm also available for questions or tips and trips that you dolls may have for me!

Let's Talk About HAIR

As a woman I love to look and feel my best, and for me that starts with my hair. My grandmother told me "you can have on your best outfit, but if your hair isn't right nothing else matters". My grandma Mary is fly always well put together and I'd like to think I take after her.
There was a time when I was at the beauty supply store once a month buying hair until one day I realized that there was a better quality available if I spent a little more money.
I like to think of my hair as an investment; if I invest and buy a higher quality, then I will get my return in the long run because I won't be buying anymore hair for at least a year. (I'm a hair addict I buy hair about every 3 months)

OK lets talk!!
There are many different kinds of hair but I'll focus on 3:
Processed hair (store bought beauty supply)
Virgin Indian (unprocessed raw hair)
Virgin Brazilian (unprocessed raw hair)

Processed hair is the hair sold in the beauty supply store. It's called processed because the hair has been chemically altered treated and coated with all kinds of silicons to make it straight, wavy, wet and wavy or whatever else they sale these days. Even the most expensive hair store brands are processed this hair will usually last any where from 1 week to a few months for the more expensive brands. Unless you buy an expensive brand this hair usually can not be dyed, washed, or wet without becoming a tangled mess.

Virgin Indian hair is hair that you can not buy in a beauty supply store. Most virgin hair has to be ordered either online or through a private vendor. It's called Virgin hair because it is raw and untouched meaning it has not been chemically altered. It is hair that was cut off of the head of an Indian (God bless him or her lol) Virgin hair comes by the bundle not in packs like processed hair. you need 2 bundles or 8oz for a full weave. I like big hair so I use 3 bundles.
Anything that you can to do to your real hair you can do to this hair. Wash, dye, bleach etc and if you have good quality the hair should not tangle. When I got my first batch of Virgin Indian hair it was like Heaven I could hear the choir singing Hallelujah!!! That was 2007 and I haven't looked back since. I've even converted most of my girls into Virgins.

Virgin Brazilian Hair is like Indian hair in that is has not been processed, and anything you can do to your real hair can be done to this hair. Lately I have been rocking Brazilian hair because the coarseness matches that of my real hair. Brazilian hair is a bit thicker than Indian hair and is easier for me to blend with my own. I also noticed that Brazilian hair does not get as frizzy as Indian. Like Indian hair Brazilian comes in one color: Natural Brown but it can be dyed or bleach. It also comes in straight, wavy, or curly.
My sister is on the left Rocking the Virgin Indian Wavy Hair! I'm on the right Rocking the Virgin Brazilian Body Wave

Whether you choose Indian or Brazilian either is a great choice. Just remember your hair is an investment take care of it and it will take care of you!

Here's My Grandma Mary. Told yall she was fly.

Whiteout

Hello Dolls,

We're fresh from vacation we had a BLAST in Cancun, Mexico. We attended party after party after party. One party in particular was an All White theme party. I had a pretty easy time finding something to wear I went with a Greek inspired sexy yet classy white dress (pictures will be up soon) My sister on the other hand is a fashion dare devil and is always thinking outside the box. Instead of opting for the sexy white dress like most of the other women attending she pulled of high waisted shorts with and open back blazer. This outfit set her apart from the sea of white partying in the club. Yes there were other women wearing shorts, but none of them Rocked it like her!
